SAHA provides support for Fatma Belkıs's first solo exhibition in France, organized by La Tôlerie and A-R (Artistes en Résidence) between 24 February - 6 April 2024. The exhibition consists of an installation project of sculptural pieces and printed materials designed and collected by Fatma Belkıs. Interested in the dynamics and ultimate transformations of relationships, the artist's new work Your Worst Friend seeks answers to quasi-phenomenological questions. The artist participated in a residency at A-R as part of the 100-day program during the peak of the pandemic in 2020-2021. The exhibition includes works produced in Turkey, at the Cité des Arts in Paris and in Clermont-Ferrand.
About Fatma Belkıs
Fatma Belkıs was born in Antalya in 1985. She now lives in İstanbul. She is interested in narra- tives of individuals going through a transformation, specifically the ones who prefer not to do this alone. She works with text, video, and printed matter. While problematizing structures built on friendship and comradery, she focuses on contracts and the breaches of these contracts regarding these structures.
About La Tôlerie
La Tôlerie is an Art space based in Clermont-Ferrand which supports contemporary creation. It’s an old factory renovated by the municipality in 2003. The project is run by a non-profit organisation and co-coordinated by Marie L’hours and Tom Castinel. La Tôlerie takes a multi-sensory approach to artistic creation. Our platform hosts exhibitions and programs events, performances and caba- rets within them. La Tôlerie encourages porosity between different practices and leaves room for improvisation. It’s a place to live, a space for exchange, a festive zone, stimulating the collective and participative creation of living forms.
