Elif Öner, (b. 1980, Istanbul) lives and works in Istanbul and Rotterdam. She studied at the Department of Painting at Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts, and afterwards she began her graduate studies at the same institution. She then participated in the Borusan Art Center Istanbul Artist in Residence Program for two years. Her artistic practice shape around dualities such as reality/virtuality and traditional/contemporary, the artist focuses on artworks that explore the potential of the unconscious through the concepts of history and memory. Since 2018, Öner has also been part of the artist duo Sensitive Sounds with Evrim Kavcar, and the duo has published a book titled A Dictionary of Sensitive Sounds. Additionally, the artist collaborates on projects and creates works in the fields of theater and cinema.
